News, Reports and how to make the World Cup more fun

Dear Michael

It has been a few weeks since our last update but as you will see things have been busy...below is a quick guide to some of the new resources that you can access - specific sectors, broader trends and even a model to enhance your office 'world cup' experience.

Our website has had a little revamp: It is work in progress but hopefully already provides a sharper guide to who we are and what we do.  A chance for us to highlight the 'free stuff' resource, and start to talk about our new free trends service GLIMPSES (more below).  Do take a moment to have a look around, sign up to our new Twitter feed for timely news of new papers and useful resources.

Nokia: World Map New Decade

An invitation to a global discussion on four key issues influencing the coming decade:  Will the internet collapse? What is the role of empathetic technology? The Rise of Asia and  The impact of rigid corporate thinking.  Organisations including BUPA, Lego, Intel and IBM have described the trends and the resource is now available for your vote and commentary.  Click through and have a look around:

BCS: A global values study

A few weeks ago I wrote to you to highlight a new study highlighting the positive impact of access to technology, particularly amongst the socially excluded and women.  Commissioned by the Institute of Technology this has a global perspective and the full report is now available for free here .

We are delighted to be taking this study forward in the UK to look at WHY access to technology has such a positive impact - watch our twitter feed for more news, or, get in touch to find out more

Cardiff: A Proud Capital

One of the benefits of being involved in 'futures' and innovation is the chance to work with organisations wanting to try new strategies, to experiment in order to improve the 'user' experience for their services or products.

We are currently working with the Proud Capital Partnership of Cardiff, developing scenarios for the future of Cardiff and helping the different organisations (public, private, voluntary, academic) involved in delivering services, to think about the future and how an integrated approach can achieve great results during challenging times.

For more information on the initiative - check out their website and our involvement Click on Wales

02 Media Forum: The future of mobile advertising

On May 21st we held a live debate that we believe to be the first of its' kind.  A mixture of presentations, voting, and round-table debate for 80 senior advertisers and agencies.

The debate formed part of a year-long industry study on the future of mobile advertising.  The fourth wave of research will start towards the end of this month, previous results are available to members of the forum.

Glimpses: A new trends resource

In July we will be launching a new, free, trends resource 'GLIMPSES'.  Originally developed and owned by The Tomorrow Project  GLIMPSES is a fantastic resource for those thinking about the future - Globalisation, Lifecourse, Identity, Media & Technology, Politics & Government, Social Exclusion, Employment and Sustainability .  Trajectory is indebted to The Tomorrow Project for asking us to take it on and develop it further while maintaining its core values.

We are in the process of updating the work at the moment, so please bear with us, but you are welcome to view the work in progress and get a flavour of what's coming.

Did you think it was all over?

Has your World Cup Sweepstake already run out of steam?

Is the colleague who drew Portugal looking a little too smug?

Well, here at Trajectory we asked our modelling team to spice things up a bit and develop a sweepstake that values 'higher than expected achievement' as much as winning....so, that slightly deflated feeling you got when you drew New Zealand translates to a small hope and if (like me) you drew Chile...then you're in with a shout!   Send us your teams and we can track it for you...

Any questions or comments, please do get in touch.

All the best

Nicola, and the Trajectory Team
